Dog sledding on snow and bare ground
Drive the sled or wagon yourself, or ride along, and experience nature with our adventure-loving Alaskan Huskies leading the team. Our friendly dog sled guides, Anne and Trond, will provide you with personalized, tailored instruction—just for you and your travel companions. The experience begins with preparing the dogs at the kennel next to our service building at Danseråsvegen 173. Sometimes there are adorable little puppies there that you can cuddle with. The dogs are friendly and sociable, even though they’re also used in competitive sledding. After the ride, you’ll be served a hot drink while you relax by the fire. Grilled sausages and waffles can be ordered in advance if desired. Allow at least 1.5 hours, and remember to wear warm clothes and shoes! Dog sledding can also be booked without staying in a treetop cabin or at Forest View.
On bare ground:
When the ground is bare, we offer four-wheel-drive tours on beautiful and safe forest roads. The bare-ground season runs in May, before the grazing animals are released into the forest, and from September—after the grazing animals have been brought back in—until the snow arrives, often as early as November.
On snowy roads:
The sleigh rides offer exciting trails in Danseråsen. The sleigh season usually lasts from December to the end of April.
Hikes range from 10 to 30 km. We have special offers for larger groups. The trails wind past gnarled pine trees, scenic viewpoints, and open areas in the communal forest. Some hikes are longer and more challenging. They’re perfect for those who want to experience the twilight hours and the darkness of night with a headlamp, or on trails we use for training. Dog sledding in the moonlight is also magical, so many of the tours are tailored for evening rides. If you’d like a more challenging, longer tour or a tour during twilight and in the dark of night with a headlamp, please arrange this with the dog sled guide.
